Rudi Rother (1863-1909) was a German painter and illustrator. In 1903, he won the coveted annual Pelikan art competition. This was one of Rother’s most significant works which he designed for Pelikan. Rother’s talent at effectively connecting graphic design and fine art shaped the style of commercial art at the turn of the century. His work was characterized by flowing lines, ornamental designs, and stylized figures.
